Featuring your work in your public portfolio

Turn proof photos from completed bookings into a portfolio gallery on your public profile. Customers see real work; you get a passive conversion lever. Customer always has final say on what stays public.

Helpers with portfolio photos on their profile get noticeably more direct-booking traffic than helpers without — prospective customers want to see real work, not just stars and a tagline. The proof photos you already snap to wrap up tasks double as portfolio content with one tap.

How to add a photo to your portfolio

  1. Open /provider/portfolio from the nav.
  2. You'll see every proof photo from every booking you've ever completed.
  3. Tap "Feature on profile" on any photo. It instantly appears on your public /providers/[id] profile under "Recent work".
  4. Optionally rewrite the caption — the original is customer-facing ("left at side door") but for portfolio it's better to describe the work ("mulched + edged 200 sqft front yard, 2 hrs").
  5. Tap "Hide from profile" any time to pull a photo back to private.

Customer consent

Customers can revoke any individual photo from their booking page. We never feature a photo the customer has opted out of. The relationship is asymmetric on purpose: you propose, they veto — but they can't put a photo back into your portfolio once they've pulled it.

Visibility safeguards

  • Photos only show up publicly when YOUR account is in 'approved' status. If you're paused, suspended, or removed, your whole portfolio hides instantly.
  • We don't surface portfolio photos in search engines yet — they're rendered behind signed URLs with a 1-hour expiry, which is short enough that Google won't index them.
  • The customer's name, address, and any face that happens to be in frame are NEVER overlaid. The photo speaks for itself.

Frequently asked

Do I need to ask the customer before featuring a photo?
+
Not in advance — you can feature any photo you took on a completed booking. The customer gets visibility on every photo you've featured via their booking page and can revoke any of them instantly. We send them a notification when you feature a photo from their booking so they're never surprised.
Can I feature photos from in-progress bookings?
+
No. Only photos from bookings that have hit 'completed' status are eligible. The RLS policy on the database enforces this — you can't accidentally feature a half-done task.
What happens to my portfolio if I take a break and pause my account?
+
Auto-hidden. The public-read RLS policy checks your provider_profiles.status = 'approved' on every read, so the moment you pause, your portfolio vanishes from /providers/[id]. When you come back online, it re-appears — no manual re-flagging needed.
How many photos can I feature?
+
No hard cap, but we render the 12 most recent on your profile. Older featured photos still count as portfolio content (and remain on individual booking pages) — we just don't surface more than 12 in the gallery to keep it scannable.
